This KCA kitchen is modern, understated and light and bright. Although their children are grown up and at university, our clients wished for a large open place space in which the family, and Maisie the dog, could all spend time together comfortably. A dividing wall was removed to create a new, open-plan layout.
The main area of the kitchen follows an L-shape layout with a complementary island and breakfast bar seating which would be their main place to enjoy breakfast and dinner. The clients specified an extra-large window to bring in as much light as possible which is designed as an ‘infinity sill’ to extend the depth of the worktops into the window reveal. The kitchen cabinetry also continues onto the adjacent wall to offer more storage space and to create a trendy bar area, including two pull out pantries and a wine cabinet.
This design capitalizes on every inch of space, with wall cabinets extending to ceiling height, storage on the island and even recessed open shelving with integrated LED lighting to display object d’art. With ample storage, the kitchen can remain tidy and organised, ensuring not to interrupt the atmosphere of the open place space.
The minimalist style and handleless doors retain a clean, linear and understated look continuing the feeling of light and space. With dedicated zones for cooking, dining and lounging this room is a perfect multi-functional environment offering flexibility for family life and entertaining.
