This classic kitchen was designed for Gaby and Simon and their family home in Buckinghamshire. Gaby and Simon designed every feature of their new home and as they had learnt from their previous home that they would spend most of their time in the kitchen, they knew the living space had to be open plan – flowing freely between kitchen, dining and lounge. Gaby and Simon have 5 children between them, aged 13-26 so it was essential that their kitchen worked for the whole family, as well as when it’s just the two of them.
Open plan was the obvious choice, offering optimum flexibility. Despite having 7 mouths to feed, breakfast is usually spread across a couple of hours, with each family member coming to grab a bagel or a coffee when most convenient. Therefore the breakfast bar, designed to seat 2, was ideal. It becomes the ‘breakfast station’ with each member of the family getting their chance to use it in turn. Every element of this Davonport kitchen is designed to suit busy family life.
