After working with property developer Bryden Homes for several years and collaborating on many kitchens, the KCA team were asked to design a kitchen for the developer’s own home.
The project was a whole home refurbishment including an extension to create a new, open-plan kitchen and living area. Our clients requested a design that blended classic and contemporary styles to create a timeless scheme. One of the most important aspects of the brief was to create a kitchen with ample storage to suit their needs as a family, while ensuring that the kitchen didn’t feel too cumbersome in the room.
The kitchen was designed with this in mind, ensuring that every inch was expertly planned whilst optimising the layout so that the kitchen didn’t overwhelm the space. To achieve this, the kitchen was built into the stud work to integrate it within the room, the tall cabinetry was thoughtfully positioned to minimise their visual impact and glazed wall cabinets were included to break up the run of furniture.
The lighter grey finish on the island helps it to blend harmoniously with the living area. As your eye is drawn to the dark blue cabinetry on the back wall the island almost disappears, making the room feel larger.
