A finalist in the prestigious Designer KB Awards, for Ultimate Luxury Kitchen Design. Working with property developer, EAB Homes, KCA was appointed to design and install the kitchen within this large luxury new build property in Beconsfield.
The brief
The brief was to create a classic-contemporary kitchen to tie in with the interior design aesthetic that the client envisaged for their new property.
The mature gardens viewed through the large windows played a large part in the layout of the room and were to be enjoyed from the kitchen. The design had to offer full kitchen functionality as well as looking beautiful, especially when socializing with friends and family.
The room itself had an unconventional footprint meaning the kitchen had to be laid out to make the most of the space, giving a spacious, practical design yet also intimate and beautiful without being overwhelming.
The ultimate kitchen island
The island was the most challenging part of the brief, as the layout and sheer expanse of the room could have resulted in a large empty area. The angular island successfully integrates the kitchen into the vast space, adding depth as well as seamlessly linking the different zones together and directing the flow to the lowered seating area. It was important fully take advantage of the views out to the garden, so a bespoke seating area was integrated into the island to overlook the grounds of the property.
Bespoke seating
The sharp lines of the island design are softened by the addition of the curved seating. It also features a raised seating area, creating a relaxed arrangement for entertaining. The stone surface seating area wraps around the angles, adding another dimension to the angular design.
The classic-contemporary Systemat furniture compliments the style of the property.
The bronze mirror in the scheme adds an elegant, luxurious feature, again, providing a warmth which clear mirror would not have achieved. The platinum oak adds a balanced combination of grey tones with warmth.
The worktop is a simple composite which answers the brief of practicality, however the subtle movement and detail breaks up the large surface ensuring that it doesn’t feel cumbersome. The appliances are set into rough cut oak veneer cabinetry, adding a symmetry and balance to the design. Their cabinetry is set back into the wall, resulting
in a shallower profile to provide a more attractive view upon entering the space. High gloss lacquer in cashmere, paired with rough cut grey oak to add warmth and texture. The bespoke sofa has been designed to blend into the island and orientated to overlook the mature landscaped garden.
