Kitchen & Interior Trends 2024
10 Top Kitchen & Interior Design Trends 2024
Our designers have curated a list of the top 10 kitchen and interior design trends for 2024. We’ve chosen these trends based on the kitchen designs we are creating for our clients and our insights on emerging trends.
Read on to learn the trends you should know when planning your home design this year.
1. 2024 Trending Colours
Experts are sharing two predictions regarding colour for 2024; fresh and light, and dark and moody. Although these appear to be contradicting directions, the common thread is that 2024 is about creating spaces for wellness, cosiness, and calming refuge. The key takeaway is that the colour trend is moving away from all-white and all-neutral interiors in favour of fresh, bold, and confident colours.
Dark and Moody
As people tire of minimalist colour schemes, homes will adopt darker, moodier palettes that add striking colour and warmth. We predict spaces with warm, saturated jewel hues such as rich browns, rusty hues, smoky blues, vibrant reds, and purples paired with understated neutrals. We also expect dark and moody colours to be paired with light or dark-stained woods for cosy, balanced, charming interiors.
Light and Fresh
Mood-boosting pastel tones are becoming increasingly popular as interior trends focus on calming spaces that foster a sense of wellness. This is reflected in Pantone’s colour of the year 2024, Peach Fuzz, which sits between pink and orange on the colour wheel, a light and fresh colour Pantone describes as “nurturing” and “quietly sophisticated”.
Pantone’s colour of the year reflects broader colour trends and the cultural climate rather than specific kitchen colours. Our designers don’t see Peach Fuzz appearing in many kitchen designs. However, we predict Peach Fuzz and other pastels will be used as a punchy statement against neutrals or as an accent against darker, rich tones.
Warm and Neutral
The love of earthy, natural tones will continue to endure. In the quest to make our homes feel cosier, neutrals are moving away from cold, grey tones in favour of warmer hues. These warmer tones will translate to rich brown cabinets and worktops with warm tones and golden veining.
2. Statement Worktops
As people look to add character, texture and warmth to their homes, natural stone finishes will remain popular for worktops and flooring. The primary trend for statement worktops favours bold colours, interesting patterns and unique textures.
Natural Stone
As kitchen trends for 2024 focus on statement worktops, more of our clients are investing in natural stone for their kitchens. Natural stones add an extra level of luxury and personalisation because of their unique ‘imperfections’, veining, and one-of-a-kind textures.
Terrazzo & Unique Composite Worktops
Unique composite materials like Terrazzo have gained popularity and will continue to feature in homes, restaurants, and workplaces. Terrazzo is a composite of marble, granite, quartz, or glass chips with a cement or resin binder. Like a statement natural stone, Terrazzo finishes make a statement.
What makes Terrazzo so appealing is that it comes in a wide variety of colourways and designs. Terrazzo kitchen worktops are perfect for people looking to add character and personality along with a playful, organic aesthetic. As an engineered material, Terrazzo is hardwearing and easy to clean, making it ideal for high-traffic areas such as kitchens.
3. Ever-Popular Pantries
In recent years, there has been a growing trend in the popularity of larders and pantries, driven by the evolving nature of our kitchens. As our kitchen spaces become increasingly multifunctional, pantries and larders provide smart, practical storage that helps to conceal clutter and mess from the adjoining living areas.
Pantries are no longer just a functional necessity; they are becoming a stylish storage feature that seamlessly integrates with the living space. This means that in 2024 kitchen designs we will see more versatile pantry designs that go beyond their traditional uses. Expect pantries that serve as home bars and breakfast stations or pantry cabinets that bridge the gap between kitchen and living spaces.

4. Rising Popularity of Oak Kitchens
Natural materials remain on trend, with oak kitchens making a strong comeback, exuding timeless beauty and natural charm. The warmth of oak brings a sense of comfort to the heart of your home, making it a popular choice among homeowners looking for a classic and enduring kitchen design.
In 2023, we will see more oak kitchen designs as people aim to add natural, humble character to their homes.
5. Reeded Glass Cabinetry
In 2023, we have designed more glazed units for our clients who wish to display glassware and introduce additional mood lighting into their designs. In 2024, reeded glass will be popular, adding a subtle and sophisticated dimension to kitchen cabinetry. Reeded glass is a great option when balancing modern aesthetics and timeless appeal. The reeded glass will be a prominent feature in our more contemporary shaker kitchen furniture designs.
6. Kitchen Hardware
Hardware drastically changes the look and feel of a kitchen. From taps to handles, hardware can enhance the style of your kitchen and help to achieve the look you love.
The 2024 hardware trends we expect to see are…
- Combining knob and pull handles for a curated look.
- Patinated living finishes such as antique brass or oxidised bronze.
- Tactile handle choices remain popular but move away from knurled finishes in favour of lined fluted designs.
- Brass and bronze taps instead of stainless steel.
7. Communal Dining Areas
As families use their kitchens as the central hub for daily life, the traditional kitchen has transformed into a place for cooking and lounging. Long gone are the days of small, isolated kitchens only for cooking and separate, formal dining rooms. With this change comes an increased demand for comfy, communal seating areas, which will continue into 2024 and beyond.
As we blur the lines between kitchen, living and dining spaces, kitchen designs will feature comfortable seating in the form of banquettes, multifunctional dining and kitchen island seating.
8. Trending Shaker & Classic Home Details
Shaker kitchens always stay in style, but they are certainly in higher demand and will remain popular as trends focus on timeless and classic home details.
Shaker-style kitchens are back in vogue, providing a perfect blend of simplicity and elegance. Combine this trend with classic home details like wall panelling and mouldings to create a kitchen that pays homage to traditional design while embracing modern sensibilities.
9. Vented Hobs / Cooktop Extractors
With improved technology and a range of benefits, more people are choosing vented hobs over traditional kitchen ventilation. As our homes focus on open-plan living, vented hobs have become popular mainly for their flexibility and ability to remove cooking odours, smoke, and grease at the source, preventing their dispersion throughout the kitchen. With extraction built into the hob, vented hobs can be installed in kitchen islands or unconventional spaces where traditional overhead ventilation might be challenging.
10. Layered Versatile Kitchen Lighting
As a multi-purpose space, kitchens need appropriate lighting for each occasion. The base-level requirement for any kitchen design is good, practical task lighting suitable for preparing and cooking food, but lighting can do so much more to enhance your design and the overall comfort of the space. In 2024, layered versatile kitchen lighting will be a big focus for kitchen renovations, from ambient kitchen lighting perfect for a night in with friends to kitchen lighting that maximises your productivity when working from home.
