Our Kitchen Design Experts
KCA is a proudly independent, family kitchen company that’s been designing and installing kitchens in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Surrey, and London for over 32 years.

1. Warm Neutrals & Bold Colours
2025 sees a shift towards kitchens in richer, warmer tones and bolder colours. The latest manufactured kitchens now offer a wider range of colours as standard. As a result, there is more opportunity for personalisation without the additional cost of bespoke or hand-painted options.
“Warm neutral tones like taupe, beige, and cashmere are becoming more popular, along with shades like terracotta, green, burgundy, and chocolate brown,” says Jonny Wing, Commercial Director of KCA.
For people looking to create a more neutral palette, warmer shades like taupe and beige are recommended, as cooler greys are losing their appeal. This trend is evident in the 46% increase in annual Google searches for ‘beige kitchen’ in 2024.
Designer Tip: If you don’t want to commit to a bold colour, we suggest adding colour and character through freestanding furniture and décor while keeping fixed elements like kitchen cabinetry neutral

2. Matte Finishes Over Gloss
Glossy kitchens are declining in favour of matte, satin, and soft-touch finishes dominating modern designs. These finishes create a more sophisticated and understated aesthetic while minimising visible smudges and fingerprints.
In 2024, only 0.1% of KCA kitchens featured gloss finishes, down from 1.73% in 2023.

3. Natural Timber Revival
Timber kitchens are back in style, with medium and dark woods trending. Consider real wood veneers to create an authentic, warm aesthetic that adds character and depth to your kitchen design. From cabinetry to architectural features like shelving and doors, wood textures create a cosy, inviting space.
According to The Houzz UK Kitchen Trends Report 2024, “unpainted medium wood” grew most in popularity from 2023, alongside green kitchens. These earthy tones and natural finishes maintain the minimalist look but avoid feeling too cold or clinical.
Real wood veneers are a top choice for kitchen styles in 2025. They offer a more authentic look than the artificial veneered oak kitchens that were popular in the early 2000s. Although lighter ash and oak styles remain popular, darker wood finishes are trending in 2025. People are moving away from the lighter ash and oak styles.

Expect to see more dark woods used in kitchens, furniture, and architectural features like floors, doors, shelves, and staircases. Wooden kitchens are great for those who want a unique, high-end style. They also fit well with a neutral and natural colour scheme.
Designer Tip: Pair natural timber with bold-veined worktops for a warm, luxurious look

4. Brass Hardware
Brass hardware remains very popular in 2025, offering a touch of elegance and warmth. Whether polished or aged, brass handles, pulls, and knobs are a perfect complement to earthy tones and natural wood finishes.
According to The Houzz UK Kitchen Trends Report 2024, the number of homeowners choosing brass has doubled each year. Among KCA’s clients in 2024, brass was the most popular hardware finish, followed by black and bronze. Stainless steel and chrome were the least favoured options.
5. Feature Pantries
The ever-popular kitchen pantry will continue to be a kitchen trend for 2025 and beyond. As pantries are becoming more common, we are seeing a real evolution in their design, as multi-use, multipurpose storage pantries are being designed and tailored for the client’s unique needs.
One big trend for pantry designs this year will be units that incorporate bifold or pocket doors. Unlike traditional hinged doors that can disrupt the layout, these doors provide smooth, uninterrupted functionality. They are also ideal for transitioning a space from a working kitchen to a show kitchen.
Designer Tip: For better storage of worktop appliances, think about adding mains power to your kitchen pantry, making things more convenient.

6. Skinny Shaker Cabinets
Featured in our October trend alert, “skinny shaker” cabinetry is set to one of the major 2025 kitchen styles.
Skinny shaker cabinets offer a modern twist on traditional Shaker-style cabinetry, with narrower frame profiles for a sleek, refined look. This transitional design works equally well in modern and classic interiors, offering versatility and elegance.
Designer Tip: Choose a natural wood veneer or one of over 2,000 lacquer colours we have to offer at KCA to make your kitchen design your own.

7. Hidden Spaces
We’ve been designing hidden utility rooms and laundry areas in our high-end kitchen designs for years. With the growing trend towards multifunctional living spaces, hidden spaces have quickly become a popular design choice.
Hidden utility spaces are perfect for kitchens with an adjoining utility room or spice kitchen. Hidden spaces are also great for keeping appliances and storage out of sight, creating a clean and clutter-free look.
Creating a hidden door in a bank of cabinets can make a kitchen feel bigger and more open. It also keeps the lines smooth and uninterrupted. Far from being a passing trend, hidden utility spaces are a lasting innovation and a popular choice for homeowners.

8. Superior Extraction Systems
While downdraft extractors have been a popular purchase over the last few years, you really can’t beat an overhead extractor system in terms of performance. Overhead extractors remain the gold standard for functionality and efficiency. They’re especially effective in open-plan kitchens, keeping your space fresh and odour-free.
Designer Tip: Opt for an overhead extraction unit ideally extracted externally for the best extraction. They are the most effective for capturing steam, grease, and odours, stopping them from spreading throughout the home.
9. Curved Architectural Details
Directly influenced by 2025 interior design trends, soft curves and archways are making a resurgence in kitchen designs, providing a softer, organic contrast to sharper modern lines. Rounded openings, alcoves, and wall details can transform your kitchen into a welcoming, harmonious space.

10. Sustainable Choices
Sustainability is a defining trend for kitchen design in 2025, driven by eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient innovations, health-focused solutions, and a growing emphasis on water quality.
Leading the way are low-silica worktops, natural stone, and recycled furniture, which have become essential elements of modern kitchens. These choices strike the perfect balance between timeless design and a commitment to healthier, more sustainable living. Water quality is another key focus, with filtered taps and fridges featuring built-in water dispensers now considered must-haves for contemporary homes.
In 2024, 86.3% of the kitchens we installed featured carbon-neutral furniture, showcasing the growing demand for environmentally responsible design. At KCA, we proudly offer furniture options, materials and kitchen appliances that are at the forefront of style, health and sustainability. Embrace these kitchen sustainability trends and create a kitchen that’s stylish, functional, and eco-conscious in 2025.
11. Air Fryers
Air fryers have become a must-have appliance trend, reflecting a shift toward healthier and more energy-efficient cooking. According to ITV News, air fryers are now the UK’s third most-used kitchen appliance, with nearly 58% of UK households owning one, as reported in Immediate Media’s Good Food Nation Survey.
This appliance trend has influenced kitchen design as homeowners look for storage solutions that keep air fryers accessible yet hidden. Features like pull-out shelves, roll-down shutters, and pocket door larders are increasingly popular. However, many are unaware that built-in appliances now often include air frying functionality. Brands like Miele and Siemens offer ovens with integrated air fryers, providing streamlined options that free up countertop space.

12. Bold Veined Worktops
Bold veined worktops are set to be a significant trend in 2025. Traditionally associated with luxury, high-end kitchens, more homeowners are now seeking to bring this sophisticated look into their kitchens. This trend reflects a growing preference for natural materials and distinctive designs. Thanks to quartz and ceramic technology advances, bold veined worktops have become more accessible, offering a range of options that replicate the beauty of natural stone.
We anticipate seeing more kitchens featuring veined worktops paired with matching splashbacks, creating a seamless and striking look.

At KCA, our award-winning designers are experts at bringing the latest kitchen trends to life, tailoring each project to reflect your unique preferences and ensuring your kitchen is perfectly suited to your home and lifestyle.
