KCA Announced As 2020 Design Award Finalist
We are delighted to announce that a KCA project has received an award nomination in the ‘New Designer of the Year’ category.
The nominated project was designed by Sophie Reid, one of our Design Consultants, who joined KCA as a trainee. After progressing through our training and mentorship scheme, we are delighted that one of her projects has received recognition from the wider industry.
Although this is a design award, recognition must also be extended to the rest of our team. As with all of our projects, this was a collaboration between our designers, installers, delivery personnel and other team members behind the scenes who all ensure every design is delivered with care to our client’s expectations.
About the Project
The project is a modern kitchen design for a family home in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. Our clients were extending their home and required a new open-plan kitchen to suit their newly extended space.
“My client is extremely family orientated.” Sophie said when speaking about the project, “his family who he lives with, including his daughter, son, mother, and dog Pablo even attended our brief and were fully involved in the design process. I wanted to emphasise the importance of the family within the design. My core focus was based on the 4G kitchen model; it had to work for all generations who would be using and living in the kitchen.”
About the Awards
The winners will be announced on 18th November 2020. For the first time in the history of the competition, judges assessed entries remotely this year, to minimise travel and ensure social distancing. Designer Editor Martin Allen-Smith said: “It’s certainly been different this time, but every one of the judges on our panel takes this process extremely seriously and they have been as thorough as ever in considering the projects.”
