KCA Showroom 2022: An Inspiring New Design Experience
We sit down with Jonny Wing, Manager of KCA, to discuss the exciting next steps for the Winkfield Showroom.
What inspired KCA to update the showroom this year?
The world of design and technology is constantly evolving, and it’s important we show our clients the very latest trends and features available for their homes. The new displays showcase the work of our designers, our furniture, and the industry-leading appliances of our partners.
At KCA, we are dedicated to creating spaces that are totally in tune with our client’s way of life. In our 29 years of trading, the past 2 years have been unlike any other for our clients and business. The pandemic has profoundly affected people’s lifestyles and how they use their homes; we wanted our showroom designs to reflect a new way of living, so we are doing a major redesign, including our whole offering for a KCA home.
How does the showroom renovation respond to interior design trends?
Full of optimism for 2022 and beyond, we wanted to create a space that welcomes people into the showroom, an area that celebrates and inspires interior design throughout the home, including contemporary and classic styles and a new handle range.
As an independent family business, our relationships with our clients are everything to us. Our showroom has multiple uses, a place for our clients to gain inspiration and develop their designs and be a meeting space for our trade partners and their clients.
Building upon our extensive sample library, we have redesigned the space so that our clients can have an immersive 360 interior design experience that covers multiple rooms in the home. We have collaborated with our friends at Bo Concept to incorporate beautiful soft furnishings, furniture, and interior pieces, with styling by Studio Aurum, creating a cohesive interior design space for our clients to explore.
The showroom designs mirror the shift towards broken plan living, focusing on multifunctional, comfortable zones within an open space that facilitates multiple users, uses, and functions, i.e. meeting room with Crittal doors provided by the Home Hub Group. Our showroom will feature new displays whilst incorporating a new multipurpose meeting space
Without giving too much away, let’s just say our new designs will incorporate many of the features we discussed in our January trends blog and more. Many of the people we work with think they need to move house or undertake a significant extension to get the home they want. Our showroom renovation serves as the perfect example of how you can transform your home using cost-effective interior design devices, intelligent design, and clever use of fitted furniture.
Naturally, everything is confidential ahead of the official launch; however, can you share a glimpse of what’s to come?
The best way for people to see a sneak preview of what’s to come is to follow our social channels. We are currently sharing behind the scenes progress of the renovation as it happens. We will be sharing more details of the designs, material palettes, new appliances, and progress over the next few weeks, including details of our launch event. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
Which aspect of the new showroom most excites you?
We’re excited about the new designs, the design space, and how they will benefit our clients. Ultimately, it’s an opportunity to create a comfortable space beyond just a showroom. What’s very special about this showroom renovation is that it demonstrates our strength as a team to collaborate. We are also thrilled that are new displays will be dressed by Bo Concept to bring a more of a “home” feel to the space.
With past covid restrictions, there were periods when we were forced to close our doors to the public. We are all looking forward to inviting old and new friends back through our doors to celebrate a significant new chapter for KCA, our clients, and our partners… also a preview of what’s to come when we hit 30 years in business in 2023!!
Which appliances and brands will feature?
The new showroom design will feature the latest and greatest appliances from our partners, Miele, Siemens, Quooker, and Bora. Kitchen tech has moved on so much in the last couple of years, and we can’t wait to show our clients the latest appliance innovations.
What are the challenges of renovating a showroom?
A kitchen is one of the most stressful rooms to renovate, and although we don’t use our kitchens like our clients do, occupying and working in the space comes with its challenges. Anyone who’s had an extensive renovation will know that there is no way to avoid at least some inconveniences even when everything goes to plan. One of the significant challenges is the dust and mess that’s generated. Fortunately, we have a strong network of like-minded builders who, much like our installers, work to exacting standards and take every step to minimise disruption.
It is important that we keep the showroom open to our clients for design consultations and meetings. To overcome this, we repurposed our training room to create a comfortable consultation area in the interim.
A showroom is a blank canvas, and in this process, we play the role of both client and designer. This, combined with our extensive choice of furniture and finishes, means limitless possibilities for each design. To refine these ideas into four displays, we have lent heavily on our insights from serving our retail and trade clients to guide us. The designs we have created are representative of what our clients are looking to achieve in their own homes. As design specialists, it’s vital that we show our clients how to push the boundaries of design within the context of their own homes and lifestyles. After all, a great design places the end-user at its heart.
When will the showroom be open to the public?
We are having a public launch event at the showroom on the 29th of June, and we welcome anyone with an interest in kitchens, interior designs, and fitted furniture. Whether you own a KCA kitchen, used us in some of your developments, or are exploring the possibilities for your home project.
