5 Christmas Cocktails for a Very Merry Christmas

 

As Christmas and New Year approach, it’s time to gather with friends and family to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. What better way to spread joy and warmth this season than with a selection of delightful Christmas cocktails? From classic concoctions to creative twists, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite festive drinks that will add a touch of merriment to festivities.

Cranberry Mule Bliss

Ingredients

60 ml Vodka
30 ml Cranberry Juice
90 ml Ginger Beer
15 ml Lime Juice
Fresh Cranberries (for garnish)
Rosemary Sprig (for garnish)

Servings: Approximately one cocktail per set of measurements.

Method

  1. Fill a copper mug or highball glass with ice.
  2. Pour in the vodka and cranberry juice.
  3. Squeeze in the lime juice.
  4. Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
  5. Garnish with fresh cranberries and a rosemary sprig.
  6. Enjoy your Cranberry Mule Bliss!

Spiced Apple Cider Sangria

Ingredients

750 ml White Wine
240 ml Apple Cider
120 ml Brandy
Oranges (sliced)
Apples (sliced)
2 Cinnamon Sticks
4-5 Cloves

Servings: Approximately 4-6 servings, depending on glass size.

Method

  1. Combine the white wine, apple cider, and brandy in a large pitcher.
  2. Add sliced oranges and apples to the mix.
  3. Toss in cinnamon sticks and cloves.
  4. Stir well and refrigerate for at least two hours.
  5. Serve chilled in glasses, ensuring each glass has fruit pieces included.
  6. Raise your glass to the Spiced Apple Cider Sangria!

Gingerbread Martini

Ingredients

60 ml Vanilla Vodka
30 ml Coffee Liqueur
15 ml Gingerbread Syrup
Gingerbread Cookie (for garnish)

Servings: Approximately one cocktail per set of measurements.

Method

  1. Rim the martini glass with gingerbread syrup and crushed graham crackers.
  2. Fill a shaker with ice.
  3. Add vanilla vodka, coffee liqueur, and gingerbread syrup to the shaker.
  4. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass.
  5. Garnish with a mini gingerbread cookie on the rim.
  6. Savour the festive flavour of your Gingerbread Martini!

Baby Guinness Cocktail

Ingredients

45 ml Coffee Liqueur (such as Kahlúa)
15 ml Irish Cream Liqueur (such as Baileys)

Servings: Approximately 1 shot per set of measurements.

Method

  1. Chill a shot glass in the freezer for about 10 minutes.
  2. Carefully pour the coffee liqueur into the shot glass, filling it about 3/4 full.
  3. Using the back of a spoon, gently layer the Irish cream liqueur on top by pouring it over the back of the spoon. The Irish cream should float on top, resembling the head of a pint of Guinness.
  4. Serve immediately and enjoy your adorable and delicious Baby Guinness cocktail!

Note: The key to achieving the distinct “layered” look in the Baby Guinness is pouring the Irish cream liqueur slowly over the back of the spoon to allow it to float on top of the coffee liqueur. This method creates a visually appealing two-tone effect resembling a miniature Guinness beer pint.

Peppermint White Russian

Ingredients

60 ml Vodka
30 ml Coffee Liqueur
30 ml Peppermint Schnapps
30 ml Heavy Cream
Crushed Candy Canes (for rimming)

Servings: Approximately one cocktail per set of measurements.

Method

  1. Rim a glass with crushed candy canes.
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. In a shaker, combine vodka, coffee liqueur, and peppermint schnapps.
  4. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass.
  5. Gently pour in heavy cream over the back of a spoon to create layers.
  6. Garnish with a mini candy cane and enjoy your Peppermint White Russian!
